Jamie Bristow joins us to speak about The Mindfulness Initiative, and their publication Mindfulness: Developing Agency in Urgent Times.
Hi, everyone. Thanks for joining me, and I wanted to take a moment to thank you for being here. It’s been several months since the last episode as I needed time to both recover from surgery this summer, and focus on being available for my family during the pandemic. Episodes will still come out now and again, with a bit more balance to allow Present Moment to continue. Your support is an important part of that; if you find value in these conversations and want them to continue to be available, please come to PresentMomentMindfulness.com to make a donation and keep advertising off the site and out of these episodes. Thank you, this only happens with your care and generosity.
Today we’re going to talk about how mindfulness can provide key insights about our choices in response to challenging times.
Jamie Bristow is Director of The Mindfulness Initiative, a policy institute about mindfulness and compassion training that grew out of a program of mindfulness teaching for politicians in the British Parliament. The Mindfulness Initiative provides the secretariat to the UK Mindfulness All-Party Parliamentary Group and helped politicians to publish the seminal Mindful Nation UK policy report. Jamie now works with politicians around the world to help them make capacities of mind and heart serious considerations of public policy and has supported the introduction of mindfulness training in over 10 national parliaments. He was formerly Business Development Director for Headspace and has a background in climate change campaign communications and advertising.
